March 23, 2016

This week was pretty good.  We have contacted some people that can probably progress and we also have a few baptismal dates for April, so we should be able to have a few baptisms in this next month.  Also Elder Galvez called me and told me that two of the families we were teaching in Conani have marriage and baptismal dates for mid April.  I should be able to go back to Conani to see them so I really hope that it happens because that would be awesome!  I love you all!

March 16,2016

The area isn’t too shabby, it is a lot bigger than my other area and we have to walk a lot. I would guess we walk at least 5 miles a day if not more. I am getting more used to it though. This week we went to help some people move from the 4th floor of their apartment building but the stairwell was really narrow so it was hard to carry all their stuff down to the bottom. The church here is nice, it actually has air conditioning haha crazy right? It is a ward too so that is kinda weird. There were so many people in church on Sunday. The other Elders in the district are cool. One is name Elder Navarrette and he is from California and the other is named Elder Ezena from Haiti. The apartment we live in was super dirty when I showed up. The other day I scrubbed out the shower and the whole bathroom. We didn’t do anything for p day today. I did some laundry and cleaned out the kitchen more. The floor was super sticky so I had to mop it out. Hopefully there will be a baptism in Conani in about a month and I would be able to go back for that.  It has been a pretty good week. The area has a lot of potential and there is a lot of work that can be done here. Who knows how long I will be here but it should be fine. I have 31 weeks in the mission today.  Basically done.... haha but no worries I am actually enjoying the mission. I love you all very much and I hope that all goes well with NY and the other family activities.

March 9, 2016

I did end up getting transferred from Conani to an area in Santiago called Rafey.  My new comp is from Mexico and his name is Elder Valasquez, it is always kinda weird the first couple days with a new comp.  During this week I was pretty sure that I was going to be leaving so I tried to finish strong and help the people that we had to progress. In all honesty yesterday kinda sucked. Although Conani sucked sometimes I really do like that branch a lot. The members there are so awesome and the branch is like a big family. It was pretty hard to say goodbye to a lot of them especially Hipolito and Angelica. Haha Hipolito was pretty sad that I was leaving just like he was when Elder Tucker left. Last night we had a little goodbye thing at the branch presidents house with most of my favorite members and food. It was humbling to see the effect that I have had on people during my time there and that I became part of the family of Conani. Packing kinda sucked too haha, it was hard to fit all my stuff into my two bags, It felt like I was starting the mission over again a little bit.  I did get a lot of pictures with people and such over the last few days but I just realized that I forgot the cord to plug my camera into the computer so I can't send you any pictures this week. As of now I am not quite sure what to think of my new area. Our apartment isn't quite as comfortable as the one in Conani, it is a lot smaller and dirtier. There are a ridiculous amount of mosquitos in that apartment but at least we have mosquito nets to sleep under. I am sure that by the time next week rolls around I will be adjusted to everything and life will be pretty normal again. I am a lot closer to some of my friends from the MTC and Elder Tucker here in this area so I will be able to do stuff with them on P days.  Also this week I learned how to make this food called mangu, it is delicious and I definitely want to make it for the family after the mish.  I am glad to hear that all is well. I hope that things continue to go well for the family. I love you all very much and miss you.

With Elder Tucker I always cut my own hair because he had clippers.  But for the first time I had someone else do it the other day, his name is Carlos and It costs like $3. I am in a branch and in Sacrament meeting we usually have about 60 people. I never ended up getting another battery for Tyler´s watch. I have been using a little two dollar watch for the past 6 weeks and it is working well haha.    I still have Tyler´s watch here to give me good luck though.  Time seems to be going by a little bit faster these days if I don´t think about it too much. It is also super weird to think that this is probably my last week here in Conani. I have been here for over 5 months now and it is strange to think I will probably leave next Wednesday. Part of me is actually sad that I will be leaving and won't see a lot of these people again, but  it will be nice to have a new area and move on to a different place.  Make sure to tell the rest of the family that I love them!

This week went by really fast and has been pretty good.  The baptism was really awesome. The way things worked out Elder Tucker was with us for the whole day practically in order for him to come, so that was cool.  So many people showed up for this baptism, the room was overflowing. Her husband was the one that baptized her, it was awesome!  We have started teaching a couple new people but not too many.  My diet is fine, I eat rice and beans every couple of days, spaghetti Dominican style sometimes and American sometimes, burgers every now and then, and tacos. We walk everywhere, this is one of the smallest areas in the mission so there isn’t really any need for transportation. I hope all is well and as always love you all very much!
