I did not have any changes with this transfer so I am
still here in Dajabon with the same companion. I was definitely a bit surprised
and not super excited about it at first but I have learned to trust that what
happens with transfers is for the best of everyone. I am very optimistic about
it though and am looking forward with faith that we will be able to have
success here in this branch and be able to change things. We have been able to
have some progress with a few of our investigators and have found some new
people that are very receptive. That being said, we always need to find more
people to teach. This week started off really well though, we taught Victor and
tried to get him to commit to a baptismal date of the 21 of January. He said he
needed some time to think about it and make the decision but we are going back
tonight and I think that he will accept that date. We also started teaching the
husband of an active member that hasn´t really cared much in the past about the
church. We taught him and left him a Book of Mormon and he actually read a
whole chapter and told us that he wants to get baptized so we will see what
happens. We also were lucky to find a family that is always at home in
the morning. In the mission you are supposed to leave at 10:00 in the morning
to proselyte but it is usually really hard to find people that will actually
listen to you. On Wednesday we found a family that is always there in the
morning and they were very receptive of the message, and should hopefully be
going to church this next Sunday. We have also been doing our best to try
and help the members have more desire to help out their fellow members and nonmembers
find the gospel. It has been really hard and we haven´t necessarily had too
much success there but little by little we will be able to get them more
involved in the work. We didn't really do much on the 31st during the day
because everyone was getting ready to party and did not want to listen to the
missionaries but that night we made a small fire on the roof of our house and I
felt like I was camping. It felt really good to start the year of 2017
and I am looking forward to all the good things that will happen this year, in
and out of the mission life.
